Facefinity Lasting Blur Foundation delivers a £9.99 glow worth reconsidering

The Max Factor Facefinity Lasting Blur Foundation is not a product one expects to linger over, and yet here we are: a sub-tenner tube that has, apparently, outperformed several considerably more expensive options currently sitting in rotation. At £9.99, available from Boots, it promises a blurred, smooth, lasting finish, and the question worth asking is whether it actually delivers one.

What the Facefinity Lasting Blur Foundation does well

The formula offers buildable medium-to-full coverage without the weight. Applied with a domed foundation brush, it melts rather than sits, minimising redness and concealing blemishes without the chalky flatness that tends to plague this price bracket. For those with pale or cool-toned complexions, the shade range runs to 18 options, and the shade N95 Ivory has been called out as an unusually accurate match for fairer skin, no telltale pink or orange cast, which is, frankly, a long-standing failing of many high-street alternatives.

The finish reads as soft-matte in the tube but delivers a surprising amount of luminosity on the skin. Those with oilier complexions may find a light dusting of powder useful through the day, but the overall effect is one of healthy skin rather than flattened skin, which is harder to achieve than the marketing language on most foundations implies. Crucially, it does not crack around the smile lines or separate across the nose, the two areas that tend to expose a budget formula almost immediately.

The packaging warrants a mention, too. A squeezy tube is not the most glamorous of delivery systems, but it travels well and wastes very little, which is the kind of practical consideration that earns quiet loyalty over time.

How it performs across different skin types

Combination skin with a tendency toward dryness need not be concerned. The formula’s soft-matte claim reads more as a velvet glow in practice: enough structure to stay put, enough sheerness to avoid the mask-like quality that drier skin dreads. The blurring effect around the cheeks and nose, areas that sit between the foundation’s natural finish and the skin’s own texture, works in a way that suggests genuine formulation effort rather than marketing convenience.

The enrichment from other reviews is worth considering here. Writing for Hello Magazine, a reviewer found the foundation evened out skin tone comprehensively, blurring both pores and fine lines while leaving what they described as a beautiful, healthy finish, feedback from a perspective that tends to be underserved in foundation reviews, where the assumption is often that the reader is under thirty-five with a smooth canvas to work on. The fact that the formula reads well on more mature skin adds a dimension to its credentials that the price point alone does not.

The verdict on this budget foundation

There is a particular kind of satisfaction in a product that does not announce itself. The Facefinity Lasting Blur Foundation is not trying to be a luxury serum foundation or a skin-care hybrid with seventeen active ingredients. It is trying to cover, blur, last, and glow without costing more than a sandwich from a good deli, and on those terms it succeeds with considerably more grace than the category usually manages.

The Max Factor Facefinity Lasting Blur Foundation is priced at £9.99 and is available now from Boots. For a formula at this price that neither oxidises into a strange orange nor desiccates by noon, that is a recommendation given without reservation.
