Norfolk-based manufacturer acquires heritage meat products brand, plans to resume production soon.
Norfolk-based food manufacturer Finedale Foods has acquired the historic George Adams 1910 brand, renowned for its artisan pies, sausage rolls, and Scotch eggs. Production is set to resume in the coming weeks at Finedale’s Bunwell facility near Norwich.
George Adams 1910, established in 1910 by George Adams in Spalding, Lincolnshire, began as a butcher’s shop offering quality meats and handmade pork pies. Over time, it evolved into a large-scale manufacturer focusing on pies, sausages, and cooked meats. Earlier this year, the company entered administration, leading to the closure of its Spalding manufacturing unit.
Finedale Foods has acquired the brand’s non-physical assets, including trademarks, recipes, and intellectual property. Managing Director Edward Miles expressed enthusiasm about revitalising the brand: “The George Adams 1910 brand has a wealth of history behind it, and we are pleased to be opening the next chapter and giving it a bright future.” He added that the acquisition aligns seamlessly with Finedale’s existing brands and enhances their production capabilities.
This acquisition expands Finedale Foods’ portfolio, which already includes the Frank Dale Foodservice and Deli Santé brands. The company specialises in frozen and chilled foods, delivering contract manufacturing solutions to a broad range of customers, including retailers, foodservice distributors, and food-to-go operators.
Finedale Foods has a history of revitalising heritage brands. In 2017, the company acquired Frank Dale, a buffet and party food specialist known for its premium quiches and miniature bakery items. Under Finedale’s stewardship, Frank Dale has continued to innovate, introducing new products and eliminating black plastic from its operations.
The revival of George Adams 1910 is anticipated to benefit both retail and foodservice customers across the UK, offering consumers access to the brand’s traditional meat products once again. Finedale Foods’ commitment to maintaining high-quality standards suggests a promising future for the historic brand.
