Samsung Semiconductor Europe is unveiling cutting-edge advancements in AI, automotive, and semiconductor technologies at electronica 2024 in Munich this week. Under the theme “CROSSROADS: Where the future begins,” the technology giant is showcasing its latest innovations for artificial intelligence, data centres, automotive, and consumer electronics at booth B6.602 from November 12 to 15.

Samsung’s booth aims to immerse visitors in the dynamic world of technology, blending human imagination with advanced semiconductor and display solutions. The exhibition, designed to give attendees an inside look into Samsung’s vision of the future, features product demos across sectors including high-performance computing (HPC), automotive, and consumer electronics.

    Highlighting Samsung’s Pioneering Technologies

At the event, Samsung is showcasing its newest developments in memory, sensor, foundry, and OLED display technologies. These innovations focus on advancing AI capabilities and supporting on-device applications, enhancing everything from autonomous vehicles to immersive consumer electronics. Each section of the booth presents solutions that address the increasing demand for high-speed processing, energy efficiency, and user-friendly interfaces in modern devices.

Memory Solutions: As the need for rapid data processing grows in sectors such as automotive and HPC, Samsung is displaying its latest DRAM and NAND technologies, designed to improve both speed and power efficiency. Products on show include high-bandwidth memory (HBM3E), Compute Express Link-based (CXL) memory modules, and next-generation GDDR7 graphics memory. Automotive-specific solutions such as LPDDR5X memory and detachable AutoSSD storage solutions illustrate Samsung’s focus on the “Server on Wheels” concept, meeting the high processing needs of autonomous and smart vehicles.

Sensor Technologies: Samsung’s advancements in sensing solutions are also in the spotlight, particularly in relation to ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) and autonomous driving. The ISOCELL Auto sensor technology provides high-dynamic range (HDR) imaging and mitigates LED flickering, enhancing safety by improving visibility in variable lighting conditions. These sensors aim to support safe driving experiences as the automotive industry increasingly adopts AI-powered features.

Foundry Solutions: Samsung is highlighting innovations in foundry technology designed for high-performance, energy-efficient semiconductor manufacturing. Using its Gate-All-Around (GAA) architecture and specialty solutions like the Bipolar-CMOS-DMOS (BCD) process and advanced embedded MRAM, Samsung’s foundry technology is geared toward AI and automotive sectors, enabling high-efficiency, low-power processing.

OLED Display Innovations: Samsung is also presenting the latest in OLED technology, crafted for automotive and smart device applications. The display showcase includes products like a 13.4-inch round OLED panel for vehicles, the 13.8-inch Flex Magic Pixel™ with privacy features, and the 17.3-inch Flex Note Extendable™, combining foldable and slidable functions. A 34-inch panoramic automotive display offering up to 6K resolution will also be featured, highlighting Samsung’s ability to deliver stunning image quality and flexible design options.

Expert Insights on Automotive Cockpit Trends

Ahead of the exhibition, Jens Kahrweg, COO and SVP of Samsung Semiconductor Europe, is set to speak at the electronica Automotive Conference on November 11. His talk, “What are the Trends in Interior/Cockpit and How to Overcome Challenges with Smart Semiconductor Solutions,” will delve into how semiconductor technology is transforming automotive interiors and cockpits. Kahrweg will address the role of generative AI in enhancing cockpit functionality and how Samsung’s technology is meeting these emerging demands. He will also underscore the importance of industry collaboration in advancing automotive design.

This year’s electronica event positions Samsung Semiconductor Europe as a leader in integrating AI and semiconductor solutions across multiple industries. By offering a close-up view of its latest products, Samsung aims to demonstrate how its technology is driving the next wave of innovation.
