The Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation (ACDF) has unveiled a comprehensive programme for the 4th World Conference on Creative Economy (WCCE), which will take place in Tashkent from October 2-4, 2024. This highly anticipated event is expected to attract over 2,000 leaders and creatives from more than 80 countries, all converging to explore the future of the creative economy and the influence of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, on creative sectors.

The WCCE is designed to be fully inclusive and accessible, allowing all participants to engage in an immersive programme free of charge. Recognising the importance of decisions made about creative industries, the ACDF aims to create an environment where everyone can contribute to discussions on the evolving landscape of creativity in a digital age.

Cultural and creative industries are among the world’s fastest-growing sectors, generating approximately US$2.3 trillion annually. With projections suggesting this figure could increase to 10% by 2030, the conference emphasises the role that creative sectors can play as a transformational force for sustainable development.

The event’s star-studded speaker lineup features both local and global figures, including Gayane Umerova, the founder of the ACDF, and notable personalities such as Arizona Muse, the renowned fashion icon; Aaron Rasmussen, co-founder of Masterclass; and Francesca Amfitheatrof, artistic director of LVMH Watches & Jewellery. Other prominent speakers include Rebeca Grynspan, Secretary-General of the UN Trade and Development; HE Sheikha Al-Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, chairperson of Qatar Museums; and Dr. Mariët Westermann, director and CEO of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation & Museum. The diverse array of speakers aims to foster a vibrant exchange of ideas, offering insights from various perspectives in the creative industries.

In addition to international voices, the conference will highlight numerous Uzbek leaders who are at the forefront of the country’s creative sectors. This blend of local and international talent will catalyse creative exchanges, providing international guests with a comprehensive understanding of the rich diversity that characterises Uzbekistan’s creative economy.

The 2024 WCCE is being organised in collaboration with several partners, including the Republic of Indonesia, the UN Trade and Development, and the World Intellectual Property Organization. Knowledge partners such as the British Council, the Asian Development Bank Institute, and the Westminster International University in Tashkent are also contributing to the event’s success.

As the world increasingly embraces digital transformation, the WCCE presents an invaluable opportunity for creatives and leaders to discuss strategies for leveraging technology to enhance creativity and foster sustainable growth within their industries.
