Venus retrograde October 2025 begins on 3 October, and psychic medium TJ Higgs has some counsel worth sitting with before it does. The planet of love, money and desire will station retrograde for six weeks, and if you have been quietly avoiding certain conversations, certain people, or certain truths about your own life, the universe, apparently, is about to make that harder to do.
Venus Retrograde October 2025: Where It Begins, and Why It Matters
According to Hindustan Times, Venus turns retrograde at 8 degrees of Scorpio on 3 October, before shifting into Libra later in the month. That opening placement in Scorpio is, astrologically speaking, not the most comfortable territory. Scorpio is the sign that refuses small talk and has no interest in the comfortable version of things.
Higgs puts it plainly. ‘Scorpio asks the questions we’d sometimes rather avoid: do I trust you? Do I feel safe with you? Do I still want this? Am I happy, or have I just become comfortable?’ Those are not idle questions. They are the ones most of us defer indefinitely, filling the gap with routine and the mild anaesthetic of being busy.
The shift into Libra arrives on 25 October. E! Online reports that when Venus returns to Libra, home, family and emotional foundations move to the foreground. Higgs frames it as a movement from interior truth to exterior balance: ‘Libra is all about relationships, harmony, fairness and balance. So we move from looking at the emotional truth underneath our relationships to asking whether those relationships are actually equal. And that could be revealing.’
On Exes, Effort and the Friendships You Have Been Carrying Alone
Venus retrograde has a reputation, and Higgs does not dismiss it. ‘Venus retrograde is famous for bringing exes back,’ she says. ‘But sometimes an ex comes back because they’re your future. Sometimes they come back to remind you exactly why they’re your ex.’ The distinction, she implies, is yours to make, and the retrograde will simply provide the occasion.
For those already in relationships, Stylist reports that Higgs sees this period as an opening rather than a disruption: ‘If you’re in a relationship, this can be a brilliant opportunity to have the conversations you’ve been avoiding. Maybe the romance has slipped. Maybe one of you feels taken for granted. Perhaps you’re giving too much or you’ve stopped telling each other what you actually need.’
Friendships, too, come under scrutiny. This is where the retrograde becomes less romantic and more clarifying. ‘During this retrograde, some friendships may suddenly feel different. You might realise you’ve been the one making all the effort,’ Higgs says. ‘Perhaps you’ve grown apart from somebody you once couldn’t imagine life without. That doesn’t mean we need to start dramatically deleting people from our phones, but I do think we should notice how relationships make us feel.’
There is something both uncomfortable and useful in that instruction. Noticing is not acting. Higgs is careful throughout to separate the two.
The professional sphere is not exempt. ‘You may question whether you’re being paid what you’re worth. An old job opportunity or professional contact could reappear. You might revive an idea you’ve previously abandoned,’ she says. The caveat matters: ‘But don’t feel you need to hand in your notice because you’ve had one bad week. Retrogrades are brilliant for reviewing. They’re not always brilliant for reacting.’
The single question she suggests returning to, across relationships, friendships and career alike: ‘Do I still want this, or have I simply become used to having it?’
Her practical guidance for the six weeks is characteristically measured. ‘Be observant. Watch what comes back. Notice who contacts you. Pay attention to what irritates you in relationships. Look at where your money is going. Notice what you’re craving. And most importantly, don’t feel you have to make a permanent decision because of a temporary emotion.’
Venus stations direct again in November. By then, Higgs says, the picture should be clearer: ‘You may have a much clearer understanding of who you want beside you, what deserves your energy and what you’re finally ready to leave behind. And sometimes that’s exactly what we need.’
