The Calvin Klein SS27 collection arrived on 12 September 2026 at Terminal Warehouse in Chelsea, a sprawling industrial space whose multiple rooms Veronica Leoni used to do something counterintuitive: she made the show smaller. Menswear was dropped entirely this season, the focus pulled tight around womenswear, around, as Leoni puts it in the show notes, ‘the woman inside it.’
Calvin Klein SS27 Collection: Desire as the Starting Point
A year and a half into her tenure as creative director, Leoni continues to interrogate what minimalism actually means for a house built on American pragmatism and the erotic charge of clean lines. WWD noted the collection’s rooting in the brand’s ’90s minimalism and sportswear, and that heritage was everywhere once you knew to look for it, not as nostalgia, but as grammar. ‘Calvin drew from that and turned it toward the body,’ Leoni writes. ‘I turn it toward the woman inside it. My minimalism begins there, in the relation between design and a body, with nothing in between. Take everything away. What is left is desire.’
The runway opened with a sleek black column dress, draping gathered at the back, the kind of piece that requires no explanation. The ghost of Carolyn Bessette Kennedy (while never explicitly named) moved through the collection with some ease, which feels less like coincidence than cultural weather given the reach of American Love Story this year. Silver headbands worn with everything from slip dresses to pencil skirts to suiting updated the tortoiseshell accessory long associated with her. They worked precisely because they didn’t compete with the clothes.
From that opening black dress, the collection opened into separates: turtlenecks with slim pencil skirts, slouchy jeans and shirts under contrasting jackets, tonal tees-and-trousers ensembles that trusted their own proportions. The palette held to neutrals (white, khaki, black, grey) but Leoni allowed herself moments of real colour: scarlet, yellow, royal blue, cherry, and a check drawn from Georgia O’Keeffe’s wardrobe. The O’Keeffe reference landed well. There is something in that particular American self-possession that rhymes with what Leoni is building.
Evening Wear and the ’90s Thread
Evening was where the collection made its case most forcefully. Crop tops paired with matching pocket-bearing skirts, a gauzy tee with an ivory skirt, the kind of understated precision that the so-called quiet luxury customer has been circling for two years without quite finding the right version of. A textured plunging design recalled the furry constructions of Raf Simons’ era at the brand, worn here with enough distance that it read as reference rather than repetition. T-shirt dresses cut on the bias felt, in the best possible way, like pure Calvin reimagined: the sportswear instinct that WWD identified as central to this collection surfacing most honestly in the simplest pieces.
According to PVH Corp., the show was staged on 12 September 2026, with three floor sculptures by Walter De Maria installed throughout the space. The sculptures gave the industrial rooms a certain weight, a counterpoint to clothes that earn their authority through restraint rather than volume.
The front row was, as ever, doing its own work. Rosalía attended in a black dress with a matching kerchief, having also pulled double duty hosting the brand’s Euphoria fragrance launch later that evening. Sadie Sink and Tate McRae joined her. Teyana Taylor, Katie Holmes, Solange, Pamela Anderson and Gemma Chan were also present, the kind of guest list that suggests Calvin Klein remains one of the few houses with genuine cross-cultural pull.
A considerable crowd gathered outside for Thai-Hong Kong actress Ling Ling Kwong, while U.S. Open darling Alex Eala drew what the show notes describe as gushing praise from Anna Wintour herself. When Wintour offers that kind of endorsement openly, it tends to mean something. Calvin Klein, it appears, still knows how to fill a room, and, under Leoni, is increasingly clear about exactly which woman it is filling that room for.
