Astrid & Miyu celestial jewellery collection arrives just as eclipse fever fades

The Astrid & Miyu celestial jewellery collection has arrived at precisely the right moment: the solar eclipse is over, the colanders are back in the kitchen cupboard, and a great many of us are still scanning the sky for something to look at. Astrid & Miyu‘s latest drop leans directly into that post-eclipse restlessness, offering bangles, earrings, bracelets and necklaces built around celestial motifs, in gold and silver, at a range of price points.

The collection was timed, consciously or not, to land in the aftermath of a genuinely arresting astronomical event. On Wednesday evening, at around 7pm, more than 90% of the sun was covered by the moon across the UK and Europe. Parts of Greenland, Iceland and Spain experienced complete darkness. Millions stepped outside; millions more pointed their phones skyward. The whole episode had that particular quality of collective attention that the sky very occasionally manages to produce.

What the Astrid & Miyu celestial jewellery collection includes

The range spans the sort of pieces that work as daily wear rather than occasion dressing: a cosmic dome bangle, an opal charm necklace, hook earrings and a double-layered bracelet. All sit comfortably in that layering-friendly register that has governed jewellery dressing for the better part of a decade now. The logic is familiar: wear one, wear three, the combination is the point.

Among the pieces now listed on the Astrid & Miyu site are the Cosmic Illusion Crystal Hoops in Gold, priced at $120. They are the kind of earring that earns its keep across seasons, light enough for summer linen, substantial enough to hold their own against winter layers. The crystal detailing reads as celestial without tipping into costume, which is the precise calibration this kind of collection lives or dies by.

Gold and silver colourways run throughout, which is sensible: celestial references have a long habit of arriving in one metal only, which limits their longevity in a wardrobe context. The dual-metal approach means the collection can move between existing jewellery stacks without requiring a complete rethink.

The longer life of a celestial moment

There is a well-worn rhythm to this kind of collection, and Astrid & Miyu are not the first to notice that sky events generate a particular mood of consumer interest. What matters more than the timing, though, is whether the pieces survive the moment that inspired them. Celestial jewellery has proven itself a reliable category precisely because it is not tethered to a single season: stars and moons and planets are not a trend, exactly, so much as a permanent minor register of fine and fashion jewellery alike.

The opal charm necklace is the piece most likely to do that work over time. Opal has a long material history in jewellery, carrying associations that run well before the current interest in celestial motifs, and a charm-format necklace can be worn independently of any broader styling context. The hook earrings, meanwhile, are the easiest entry point: low commitment in terms of styling effort, and the kind of thing that reads as considered without requiring an explanation.

The collection is designed to be worn alone or layered, and the pieces work year-round, as Stylist noted, whether adding texture to a summer evening outfit or providing a point of interest against dark winter knits. Whether the eclipse generated the appetite or simply coincided with it is beside the point. The Astrid & Miyu celestial jewellery collection is available now on the brand’s site, with the crystal hoops and the layering pieces among the first additions to the new-in edit.
