The Lululemon Slouchy Sling Bag Is the Crossbody Worth Buying This Autumn

The Lululemon slouchy sling bag is, I suspect, about to become the kind of thing you see slung across every shoulder from Peckham to Edinburgh by October. Before we get to why, there is the small matter of the bag that preceded it into the cultural conversation: the now-notorious Big-Ass Bag, which Lululemon dropped recently to predictably gleeful internet chaos.

The Big-Ass Bag: Capacious, Absurd, Genuinely Impressive

The numbers, first. People reports the tote is priced at $248 and holds 80 litres. For context on what 80 litres actually looks like in the room: according to E! News, the bag measures 22 inches across, 12.6 inches deep, and just under 33 inches tall, which is, by any reasonable assessment, closer to a piece of soft luggage than a handbag. TikTok, naturally, embraced this with full commitment: videos of people attempting to climb inside the thing spread quickly, and the product page acquired reviews including “Congrats, Lulu, for creating a bag big enough to carry all my emotional baggage.” The internet knows itself, at least.

It is an impressive piece of engineering in the way that a skip is impressive: you can fit a great deal in it, and sometimes that is precisely what you need. Shoes, a laptop, a small companion animal, all reported as viable cargo. But for those of us who lean towards the smaller, better-considered end of the bag spectrum, the Big-Ass Bag is more spectacle than solution.

Why the Lululemon Slouchy Sling Bag Is the Real Story for Autumn/Winter 2026

Which brings us to the Lululemon slouchy sling bag, the style I think will earn its place as the crossbody of the season. The comparison point is the Uniqlo crossbody that spent the past few years achieving something close to ubiquity: the one that seemed to hold more than its dimensions had any right to permit, that migrated from travelling to festivals to daily life without complaint. The Lululemon version arrives at a similar brief but with a slightly larger footprint, a few centimetres up on the Uniqlo in each direction, and with a more considered pocket arrangement.

There are three of them: one on each exterior side and one inside. This is not a trivial detail. The hierarchy of bag pockets, the one you reach into without looking, the secondary one for the thing you need at security, the inner one for the thing you cannot lose, is something bag designers get wrong more often than they should. Here, the logic holds. The adjustable shoulder strap means it wears comfortably whether you carry it high and crossbody or low and slung, and the current colourway edit runs to black, khaki, cream, pink and lilac: a range that covers both the person who treats bags as neutrals and the person who wants the bag to be the thing.

The fabric is worth noting separately. 100% recycled nylon and polyester, which gives the bag its water-repellant quality (useful, given the reliable drizzle of a British autumn) and also a softness in the hand that reads less sportswear-adjacent than you might expect from the athleisure category. The slouch is genuine rather than affected; it sits against the body well rather than holding itself away from it.

The price is £48, which places it firmly in the range where you buy it without agonising and wear it without worrying. The Lululemon slouchy sling bag holds 3 litres, comes in five colourways, and is available now from Lululemon directly. The Big-Ass Bag will have its moment, and it has clearly already had it. But the slouchy sling is the one I expect to still be appearing in photographs in three years’ time, looking quietly right beside whatever else is going on.
